#MakeSpaceforWomen with Lilly Singh

#MakeSpaceforWomen with Lilly Singh as she is seen alongside Busy Phillips, and retired astronaut Nicole Stott. While this trio heads off into space, Taraji P Henson holds down the fort as head of mission control and Katie  Couric is starring as a journalist. While the famous faces are incredible, it’s the cause tied to this campaign which catches my attention.

In a feminist moment, this Olay #MakeSpaceforWomen campaign is supporting STEAM education for women. Olay will donate $1.00 for every tweet that includes the campaign hashtag up to $500,000 to the organization Girls Who Code

Lilly Singh told FanSided, “Growing up, even when I did stuff on YouTube and when I entered the late-night space, there was always this idea — and it’s a ridiculous idea — this idea that there’s only a certain number of spaces or slots in any set industry. . . . But there’s enough space for everyone to win. There’s enough space for every industry to be diverse. I think it’s really crucial, especially when we’re talking something like STEM because the work done in STEM impacts the world. And so it should look like the world.”

Taraji told AdWeek, “The Super Bowl is literally the Oscars of commercials, I feel like I made it!”

With all the excitement, some were puzzled. “When we first joined and announced that we were advertising during the Superbowl, we got [ the same] questions a lot: ‘What role does a beauty brand have to at the Super Bowl?’ ‘Is this a good investment for you?’” she recalls. (The Drum) senior communications manager, Kate DiCarlo reflects. Audience data showed roughly 47% of the game’s audience is made up of female viewers, so beauty has plenty of relevance!
